Testing The Testing

Tuesday May 13, 2008
A group of scientists in the Netherlands are about to begin a large scale study of self-testing for STDs. They're going to invite individuals to test themselves, at home, for chlamydia, a common STD that often has no symptoms. The scientists believe, with good evidence to back them, that people would be better about getting tested for STDs if they didn't have to see a doctor. I wish them a huge success. Maybe in a few years, home tests will be available in the U.S. and make screening visits obsolete!
