Older and Wiser

Wednesday June 3, 2009
It's no surprise to me that the HPV vaccine is of benefit to older women who haven't had symptomatic episodes of HPV. It only makes sense that, although the vaccine won't help every older women, it will help some. That's why when I found a place that was willing to give me the vaccine, despite being over the age limit, I jumped on it. Recently, when calling to schedule my second shot, I had to deal with a different clinic telling me that "they were willing to give the shot to me, but it wasn't going to do any good." I tried to convince them that I probably knew a heck of a lot more about the issue than they did, but it was to no avail. You had better believe that when I go in for my appointment I will be waving my copy of The Lancet article and singing the "I told you so" song.
