I woke up this morning to discover that the balance of power will remain largely unchanged in American politics for the next few years. That was certainly a relief. His history in Massachusetts aside, the thought of what a Romney/Ryan presidency might mean for healthcare, and specifically for women's health, was terrifying. This way, we get to at least see how the Affordable Care Act plays out, and I don't have to spend the next four years writing about scary anti-contraception legislation or why the Federal government wants to re-enact failed abstinence only curricula for sex education. Science makes a difference in these things, and it seems as though, by and large, we got the election results that will encourage the government to make decisions based on reason rather than on dogma. I always count that as a victory - even when I don't like the way that the science plays out.
