Definition: A congenital condition is one that you are born with. Congenital conditions do not have to be genetic. Many congenital conditions are caused by infections or other non-inheritable problems that occur during development.
Examples:
Congenital syphilis occurs when a mother who has untreated syphilis during pregnancy passes it to her child.
