I love condoms!

We used condoms for 25 years and no failures - my partner did a session at a mens health clinic and found out how to use them properly. We disagree with the way doctors force women to have unnecessary and optional exams and tests to get BCP's, so jointly decided not to rely on a Dr for our contraception. I love condoms - I'm a healthy woman - never had cystitis, an infection or anything else....I put most of that down to condoms. My friends on the Pill have not been so lucky. One even had a healthy ovary removed after a routine and compulsory pelvic exam. Having lived in the UK, I know those exams are unnecessary and harmful. No way - use condoms and protect your health and quality of life!

They give me control over my health

I use condoms to avoid doctors and find any condom is better than being blackmailed into optional exams and cancer tests to get the Pill. After completing a Uni course on ethics, I couldn't allow my rights to be violated. We've been happy with condoms and never had one break on us. We've tried all types and like the Barely There range. My friends using other methods have all had side effects and some lost their libido. I've heard condoms are unreliable, but when used properly in a committed relationship, we think they're very reliable. No side effects either..,for msot people anyway, no messing with the hormonal balance of the female body and better for our health - protection for the cervix and I've never had a urinary tract infection/cystitis. (very common when you have unprotected sex) My periods are regular and perfectly normal as well. Condoms enable me to protect my health and body and prevent pregnancy. A win-win situation.

Durex Love

As a guy I like the feeling of Durex's Love condoms more than most, obviously not perfect but still great... Thanks, Forest.

non-latex = eminently better

I have a latex sensitivity & hate the smell too, so I've used Durex's polyurethane condoms, Avanti for years. Unfortunately, not only are they non-stretchy & kinda plastic bag-like (they squeak!), but they're also significantly more expensive than regular latex condoms (a 5pk of Avantis range in price from $15-$20 where I live, whereas your average 12pk is often around $7-10). Because of this, I've always been on the lookout for something better & I think I've finally found it: A friend of mine recently discovered that Lifestyles makes a non-latex condom called Skyns, which are made with polyisoprene. They're soft & stretchy, just like regular condoms, but they don't have any of the latex allergens that used to make sex so frustrating & painful before I discovered Avantis. They're not really readily available up here in Canada yet & they're still not quite as affordable as latex condoms tend to be, but they're the best of what's out there & they're definitely MY new favourites! :)

I have a latex and spermicide allergy!

Thankfully I'm in a monogamous relationship for the last ten years. But we use the polyurethane condoms. We use the Avanti brand with NO spermicide. We've never had a breakage in all these years.

Hate the Smell of Latex

I'm not allergic, but I much prefer the poylurethane kind, just because I detest the smell of the latex ones (a scent which lingers afterward on every part of the body which is touched by the condom). Frankly, even if it did offer enough protection against HIV, I have never even considered the lambskin type---the idea kind of creeps me out.

Latex Allergies

As long as polyurethane offers comparable protection I would vote for it since latex allergies can develop over time from frequent exposure.

Skyn Condoms

I am a woman with latex allergies, and I love these things. They're great.
