Oral Fixation

Saturday October 4, 2008
With all the talk of teen pregnancy in the news, it wouldn't surprise me if teenagers and others once again started thinking of safe sex as "anything that doesn't get you pregnant." It's not an uncommon problem, particularly in a political climate that encourages virginity pledges. Still, it's not a productive way to think. Oral sex, for example, doesn't get you pregnant, but it also isn't particularly safe. It's possible to make it safer, however, by choosing to use the right protection. For that matter, oral sex can be a tool to encourage a reluctant partner to practice safer sex. Even men who are reluctant to use condoms might be less likely to object if you offer to put one on with your mouth.
